A unique service – comprehensive University Advice available to Independent Schools

Education Advisers offers University advice via independent schools, some of it without charge.

Most independent schools have their own HE or UCAS or Careers specialist. However, there is often a need for additional specialist advice or simply a different external perspective.

1. Individual consultations

Some degree choices can be a little complex, especially when a pupil is uncertain or decides to change course ambitions. Fee paid consultations for pupils and parents are available with our team of experienced Admissions Tutors and Careers specialists. The members of our team are: -

Best-selling author, Brian Heap, has for over 30 years written the annual publication, ‘Degree Course Offers’, the ‘Bible’ of Higher Education advice in the UK.

Dr Tim Sellar was the Director for International Admissions and Admissions Tutor for Biological Sciences at Imperial College, London. He is the author of some 25 published papers and books and has given over 300 lectures and run workshops for young people all over the world. In addition he has been a consultant to the British Council and the University of Reading.

Dr Gwyn Brown has had a distinguished career as Director of the International Office at the University of Surrey. He has undertaken a wide range of educational liaison work, and given lectures and presentations, in over 25 countries.

Phil Moss was Student Recruitment Manager at the London School of Economics until April 2007. Phil offers a high quality, bespoke and independent education service tailored to the needs of individual students.

Michael Fanya was for over 25 years the Senior Master of Hurtwood House School, the largest independent sixth form school in the UK. During that time he wrote numerous books and articles on Higher Education and counselled and advised sixth-formers on universities and higher education applications. He has been on a number of university committees is now the Academic Director of Education Advisers Limited

If you would like advice from our experts, then telephone us on 0845 226 28 20, to discuss your requirements.

2. Seminars

We can arrange daytime or evening seminars on the school site. These can either be on a generic theme such as “How to make your university and degree choice”, or more specialised such as “The new process for applications to medical school”. We charge a modest fee (+ travel expenses) depending on the theme.

3. University eGuides and Reports

We have 7 eGuides on University issues (see below). Schools can take these, edit them to their own perspective and then publish them in the school’s name. How much do these cost? You can have any one eGuide for free (as long as you give EA a credit), alternatively, a school can even take all 7 eGuides and set them up as your own Sixth form extranet. We even give you an online library of university advice sources. How much does this cost? You still pay nothing for the material but we do require you to use another web service from Education Advisers Ltd, which start at £500.

The 7 eGuides are

  1. The University & Courses Choice eGuide
  2. The UCAS application process eGuide
  3. The cost of going to UNI eGuide
  4. Student finance eGuide
  5. How to make your A level choices eGuide
  6. University clearing eGuide
  7. Tactics, interviews & personal statements eGuide

To use these eGuides and also receive the online university advice library simply fill out the following enquiry form and submit.
